The exclusive PXCELL® Advanced Photocatalytic Ion Oxidation Technology is currently the best available system for active air and surface purification . It works continuously 24 hours a day / 7 days a week automatically without operator intervention.

PXCELL® cells are designed in the shape of a honeycomb with a special composition of various metals and UVX light and generate a purifying plasma that effectively and safely removes up to 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, harmful contaminants and molds on surfaces and in the air.

Active PXCELL® technology generates Hydroxyl Radicals (OH), Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) and superoxide Ions in a safe and environmentally friendly way using ambient water vapor. The plasma generated flows in the air destroying the pollutants at the source of the problem, air and surfaces, providing great benefits in indoor air quality.

Scientific tests, carried out by laboratories and different universities, demonstrate the effectiveness of advanced photocatalytic oxidation technology in reducing the bacterial and virological load.

The PXCELL® cell catalyst has a hydrophilic coating that captures ambient water vapor and, through the advanced photocatalytic oxidation process, generates an airborne plasma composed of hydroxyl radicals (OH-), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and ions superoxides among others.
With their high oxidizing power, hydroxyl radicals (OH) rapidly extract hydrogen (H +) from the protein existing in the outer layer of bacteria, viruses and allergens, decomposing it and suppressing its pathogenic activity. The removal of the hydrogen atom (H +) from this structure inactivates the undesirable substance.
Hydrogen peroxide destroys the lipid membrane while superoxide ions make the particles adhere to each other, gaining mass, which allows them to be filtered more easily.
After performing their purifying function, these natural oxidants turn back into water (H20) without leaving residues. PXCELL® technology destroys virus receptors, leaving them deactivated and without the ability to infect: In viruses without a membrane, the hydroxyl groups generated act on the constituent proteins of the virus, denaturing, degrading and altering their RNA.
The oxidants generated are efficient to disinfect surfaces and the air, being harmless to humans and pets.

There are 3 classes of units:
1.-Models of purifiers for installation in duct networks using the existing air conditioning system.
2.-Portable units with built-in filtering and fan to purify all types of premises, offices, restaurants, shops, etc., which simply require connection to the electrical network.
3.-Industrial portable units in stainless steel (customizable in any color) that can be installed in different positions, floor, wall or even in the false ceiling to create a new network of ducts.
These industrial units allow adapting to user needs and incorporating, in addition to PXCELL® technology, different degrees of Hepa, Carbon, etc. filtration.

PXCELL® technology is a safe technology, designed to work continuously in spaces with people and pets. It does not use chemical components and does not generate ozone.
It uses environmental water vapor and does not generate waste of any kind.
Avoid using disposable containers like plastic bottles for other chemicals.
The electrical power required for its operation is very low (like a light bulb).

Thanks to its patented catalyst formula with a combination of metals, hydrated coating and large exposure surface area, it is the only active technology that provides the solution to the problem of environmental pollution:

If, in addition to air and surfaces, PXCELL® equipment disinfects air ducts by eliminating bacteria such as aspergillus and legionella, reducing periodic interventions for the maintenance of ventilation ducts.

It is recommended to install PXCELL® in the air supply at the air conditioning outlet.
If not possible the secondary location would be on the return side before the HVAC battery, but at this location some performance is lost.

The more humidity there is in the environment, the more hydrogen peroxide and other oxidants the PXCELL® cell creates and therefore the higher its performance.
Because of this, the amount of water vapor is key to the performance of the system.
PXCELL® is still effective at low humidity levels, but it is recommended that it be greater than 40%. Below this humidity it is recommended to install a humidifier.

Always mount the PXCELL® cell after the humidification system so that the PXCELL® cell is exposed to the highest possible humidity levels.
The PXCELL® cell is not damaged by high humidity levels.

The UVX ultraviolet bulb is the energy source that powers the photocatalytic reactor. Such energy from ultraviolet light that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
UVX energy degrades over time and after two years of use (in the case of ducts) the intensity will no longer be adequate for the PXCELL® system to work properly. Consequently, even if the UV lamp is visually operational, the bulb must be replaced after two years of operation. Always follow the recommendation of the manuals for the replacement of PXCELL® both in laptops and in conduits.

There are 2 sizes of PXCELL® for ducts available, models 9 and 14. In general, the square meters of our premises or the power of the refrigeration system are good measures to determine the appropriate PXCELL® unit:

  • PXCELL 9. Up to 150 m2 or with air conditioning power between 10.4 and 14 KW / H
  • PXCELL 14. Up to 250 m2 or with air conditioning power between 20.9 and 26 KW / H

In addition to considering these factors, also consider the bioburden:

  1. Spaces with smokers in homes.
  2. Pets, including dogs, cats, birds, or other animals that create dander, feces, or aerosol urine - pet owners love PXCELL®!
  3. Cooking odors and grease, (especially ethnic food), fish odors PXCELL® does not mask odors like air fresheners, it removes them!
  4. High VOC levels due to the manufacture of wood products, carpets and other materials that release gas chemicals.
  5. High levels of mold or mildew are a very common problem in coastal areas and areas where humidity levels are high. PXCELL® kills mold that creates musty odors, even on carpets.

When analyzing the different specific problems and determining that there are various contaminants, consider installing the largest PXCELL® system or multiple units.

Note: Airpurtec portable units have capacities from 10 m2 to 600 m2.

Caution: Special care must be taken when installing a room-only system. Bedroom areas have a low bioburden and therefore do not need high levels of purification. For this reason, follow the proportional sizing guidelines, and if in doubt, contact Airpurtec® for guidance.

PXCELL® is not approved for exterior mounting. If PXCELL® is installed outdoors, it must be covered so that the water does not affect it.

Airpurtec® recommends operating PXCELL® continuously 24/7. If the customer does not run the fan continuously it is not a problem, when the fan turns on there will be a small purification concentration that will quickly dissipate into the environment. If the PXCELL® cell is connected to the fan circuit and the system turns on and off frequently causing the UVX bulb to exceed its duty cycle.
(3000 cycles), it can cause premature failure that is not covered by the two-year bulb warranty.
For the best indoor air quality, ATECYR and ASHRAE recommend continuous fan operation.

The PXCELL® devices are multi-voltage and thanks to their external AC to DC power adapter they can work with voltages from 100 to 240 V / 1 / 50-60 Hz.

The PXCELL® UVX bulb does not generate ozone.
On request for a greater elimination of odors we have cells that generate a small residual amount of ozone for a greater elimination of odors and molds.

PXCELL cells are maintenance free, they simply have to be changed every 2 years. It is very simple and takes less than 5 minutes.
In the case of portable equipment, additional maintenance is filter cleaning.

PXCELL® kills biological pollutants and also decomposes chemical pollutants thanks to the ionization that it generates, which makes the particles adhere to each other, gaining mass, which allows them to be filtered more easily. Certain pollutants such as cigarette smoke contain pollutants like tar and nicotine that can coat the core of PXCELL® and render it ineffective. It is convenient to protect the PXCELL® cell from contaminants found in cigarette smoke, as well as from cooking fat. Consequently, a minimum particle filter is recommended.

The recommended location for PXCELL® cells is in the plenum, immediately after the air conditioner, before the transition to the round duct, which is usually rectangular. If the PXCELL® cell is to be mounted in round duct, an adaptation with a plate must be fabricated to provide a flat mounting surface.

No. The PXCELL® UVX light is shielded from the duct with the exception of the area in line with the air flow. Consequently, the intensity of UV rays is reduced enough that it has no impact on materials not protected against UV rays.
Unlike high performance ozone systems, the purification levels produced by PXCELL® do not affect typical ducts, including flexible duct.

PXCELL® is equipped with a front cover mounted indicator light that reflects the light from the lamp allowing the user to easily see if the lamp is operational.

Caution: The high intensity UVX bulb in the cell can cause eye damage. Under no circumstances use the PXCELL® cell as a lamp or look at it directly!

The equipment complies with CE certifications for safety, low voltage and electromagnetic compatibility.
